As a fellow tea enthusiast, do you have any reccomendation for tea, teapots or cups & saucers??

I’m particularly taken with the Juliska and Mustartseed & Moonshine table wares from Jane Leslie & Co. (available online at http://www.janeleslieco.com/) as well as delicate antique handpainted porcelain pieces from the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian eras.

what kinda phone do you have? what type of cover??

I have an iPhone 3G that has somehow managed to survive a flurry of minor calamities by a mere whisker. Lesson learned: I just popped a protective AnOther Magazine x Colette x Gareth Pugh iPhone slider case on it last week.

Who are your five favorite couples in Hollywood?

Oh my, I can’t say that I’ve ever pondered that notion. Give me a minute here…

  • Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen
  • Rupert Friend and Keira Knightley
  • Carey Mulligan and Shia LaBeouf
  • Andy Samberg and Joanna Newsom
  • Alexa Chung and Alex Turner
  • Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes

Yes, that’s six. Apologies.

As a vegetarian/aspiring vegan, I often wonder if others living similar lifestyles suffer from temptation. Do you or have you ever gotten cravings for dairy or meat products?

I can’t say I have. After ogling the horrors of factory farming first-hand, it is next-to-impossible to have a colossal craving for anything of the sort.

On second thought, I distinctly recall having a bit of a hard-boiled egg hankering around Passover ‘07. (Palpably more for the nostalgia factor than anything else.)

How did you meet Natalie So?

Last June, my mom hopped into town to go on a buying expedition at the Brooklyn Renegade Craft Fair in search of potential new artists/brands to be carried at her Pennsylvania boutique. Given that she had just driven into Manhattan from the country, we decided to take her car over to Brooklyn. I proposed that we get snacks first and I hopped into a juice bar while she waited in the car. While in line I noticed Natalie (in all her chicness) out of the corner of my eye. Since I was in a bit of a hurry, I didn’t exactly extend myself; nevertheless Natalie somehow or another recognized me and graciously introduced herself. I was delighted to make such a lovely, witty acquaintance – but taking into account the city’s vastness and that she was merely working in town for the summer before she would be returning to Harvard in the fall – I never really presumed that I would ever have the pleasure of running into her again. Literally hours later, in a wholly disparate borough altogether, Natalie spotted me at the Erica Weiner booth at the Brooklyn Renegade Craft Fair in Williamsburg’s McCarren Park. From that moment on, Natalie, Ali, and I became quite the kindred troika… eagerly anticipating summer 2010!

what do your pajamas (that you actually sleep in) consist of?

Come wintertide, usually thickly-knit socks from Vermont, supremely-soft GapBody or APC sweatshirts, waffle-knit leggings, Stella McCartney organic underbits, old mammoth supple sweaters… essentially whatever is warm and snuggly!

Do you ever look at pics at http://duckyeahjuliafrakes.tumblr.com/?

No, I can’t say that I do. While incredibly flattering, the prospect of actually checking said sites is rather cringe-worthy and renders me quite sheepish.

Hi Bunny Bisous! I freelance for Elle Girl Japan and they have written about you this month. I’ve always loved your blog and decided to start my own! Please check it out: http://mayasagenda.blogspot.com/ I hope you find it interesting enough to spread. :)

Why thank you! I wasn’t aware of an ELLE Girl Japan piece… surprise surprise! Your blog is a dream… I’m completely taken by your stellar style and quotidian adventures!

in the first photo on this page http://www.refinery29.com/fashion_week/shoe_stalking_weve_got_more_ph.php if i may ask, do you recall what brand of tights you were wearing? they’re just so darling!

Many thanks… those are Tsumori Chisato tights.

Saw you in InStyle magazine! that’s how I came accross your blog which then led me to your tumblr! xx

Well hello hello! Sincere thanks for hopping by! (It should be duly noted that there are several misquotes in that article… don’t believe everything you read!)

do you aspire to publish a book someday? if so, what would you write about?

Yes, in fact I’m in the initial conceptual phase of one at the moment. It’s all still at a very rudimentary stage and I don’t foresee remarking publicly about the project in the near future.

what brand/flavor of toothpaste do you use? any preference?

Tom’s of Maine Spearmint… or, if I can’t find a natural toothpaste, I opt for Arm & Hammer’s Advance White with baking soda (love that briny texture).

What are your favorite perfumes? :)

…I could go on for epochs! I have a major weakness for evocative, wistful bouquets…

hello julia!:) can i just say, firstly that i think u are amazing and so cute!! and i wanted to ask, since i too am small and look young-ish, i am 19. Do people think u are younger than your true age(19?) to me you have such an amazing maturity though.xx

You’re far too kind! Yes, I oft am mistaken for being much younger than I am. In fact, yesterday someone asked me how my Bat Mitzvah studies were faring. “Fine, in 2002.”

Are you perturbed by people who seemingly adopt your personality, such as the way you talk (or type, I suppose!), etc? Thanks, as always!

I can’t say that I come across that often… ‘suppose I should be flattered? Be that as it may, maintaining your own voice and being yourself are surely values worth aspiring toward and fostering!

how tall are you?

Tall enough.

Do you host many dinner parties or social gatherings?

Not frequently: only for a dear friend or a cause that is especially close to my heart. I’m a rather shy bunny and revel in my own solitude and work on most evenings.

Feel free to ask me anything!
