So remember last year’s Saga of the Fall 2006 Balenciaga Heels (set a’walking courtesy of Textbook’s John Jannuzzi)? Well, it has at long last been fulfilled.
I am literally tickled pink that Alex White paired that Balenciaga wool jacquard knit dress with those Miu Miu shoes ––– I have been saying for months on end that they would be a killer combination.
Arguably my favorite season of shoes. In history.

![Almost a half-decade ago while studying for my driver’s test, an issue of Vogue UK, by hook or by crook, found its merry way atop my enthralling (ha!) Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles manual and promptly opened itself (or something like that) to divulge Nicolas Ghesquière’s genius in this now-iconic Tim Walker image [below]. A welcome distraction indeed.
This prime bit of British wit – coupled with the Balenciaga Fall 2006 shoes’ profuse and prolific editorial credits across the board in the July 2006 Vogue US (graced by coverstar Kate Hudson in, well, Balenciaga) – sparked a four-year odyssey to track down a pair for myself. The dénouement? Yesterday evening, owing to the power of ebay and some good old fashion first-time bidder’s luck, I actually won (and at a very reasonable price, might I add) a pair from the collection! Woot woot!
